Radville Community Pool Renovation
40 Year Old Community Pool Gets A Splash of New Life.
Concept Rendering
Originally built in 1967 as a Centennial project, the community swimming pool in the small town of Radville, Saskatchewan was nearing the end of its lifespan. The pool structure, mechanical components and aesthetics were all in need of renovation.
After working with the community through focus groups and personal interviews the committee approached Master Pools Calgary to on board with the project. Master Pools Calgary provided pool design and construction services. Cost efficiency and durability were a priority to the town and Master Pools Calgary was able to cut costs by constructing the new pool within the existing pool structure. Master Pools was also able to utilize the existing mechanical room into the new design.
From Old to New
The new swimming pool is just over 20 x 10 meters and features a diving board, handicap lift and a 4.3m tall double loop UltraFlume waterslide. Complementing the swimming pool is a 7 x 14 meter wading pool with beach entry, three spray elements, numerous deck & bubble jets.
A Community Coming Together
From the start, the project was built upon input from the public. The commitee held focus groups and interviews to find out the needs of the public. The small community of Radville came together to turn this project into a reality. An overwhelming amount of support came through in-kind labour, equipment contributions, fundraising and donations.
Construction of the new facility began in the spring of 2013 and the new facility officially opened to the community on July 15, 2013.
